Overall was pleased. This is a conference venue with rooms. The Executive rooms where I was staying was newly refurbed with stylish furniture and very good bathroom including an excellent walk in power shower. Pillows and mattress were excellent, and room was very quiet if a little on the small side. The standard rooms which I glimpsed looked ok, not refurbed but clean and pleasant. Bar food in the evening was fine for an informal meal - and reasonably priced. Breakfast was nothing special but fine for a quick start. Overall not a bad choice in a town with limited hotel options and reasonable vfm at £75 for room incl breakfast.
The hotel staff were very helpfull. The evening meal was good and the full english breakfast excellent.
Would like more choice of channels on the Room TV.
Very nice to be able to order a freshly cooked breakfast. The hotel is situated in lovely grounds.
Three evening functions were being held during our five day stay which may disturbe some guests. Our room was too small for two occupants but I would think ideal for business travllers.
The accommodation was wonderful as were the staff.
The food was dreadful. Most diners were sending theirs back. Mine was cold and when I sent it back it was re heated; hence, I sent it back and had no dinner. The breakfast was cold and unappealing.
A beautiful hotel located in a stunning area with a garden and ample parking. Great breakfast is served in a restaurant with a glass roof. A real treat.
Great shower and very clean, contemporary room.
It wasn't clear that the hotel was a large conference centre within college/school grounds. Not quite the 'mansion' setting implied in advertising. Great for business but not so great for romantic night away.
Bathroom was excellent
Unable to classify in the selection in question 2. I arrived on Sunday evening. NO food available. Bar closed. No local restaurant/pub. Had to drive into Maidstone. I would not recommend this hotel purely due to the lack of catering.
Rooms are comfortable and very clean with new bathrooms. Breakfasts were good.
Bedrooms are quite small. Staff at reception appear disorganised.
Very well-appointed rooms. Pleasing level of comfort/luxury. A very pleasant setting E.g patio and lawned surroundings. Excellent breakfast area.
Staff were brilliant. Helpful, attentive and efficient. Room decor and fittings all seemed very new and clean. Bathroom also seemed newly fitted, could have done with a shelf to store things on a bit lower down. Beautiful old house and grounds with new extension very sympathetically built to marry into the older house seamlessly.
Menu limited and food not very edible and served warm rather than hot. Room and bed very small for price quoted. No pillow choice - ours were hard. Only whole milk in room - no choice given. Wedding and surprise party at hotel when we arrived which meant a delay in getting a meal. Weddings and seminars seem to be their core business which they cater very well for, from what we saw. A shame, but don't feel this hotel is really geared for the individual traveller. Not too easy to find as in the middle of a University complex, which was a bit unusual.
We stayed at Oakwood House for the convenience of being near Maidstone. Breakfast was excellent and included a hot breakfast ordered from a menu and the continental breakfast included. The rooms have recently been refurbished, they are however a bit cramped, due to a very large wardrobe area, which is only useful if staying here long term. The bar area served meals which were large in size and very well priced. Overall a very nice place to stay.
The shower, which came with easy to understand instructions in the folder near the tv
The shower, which came with easy to understand instructions in the folder near the tv. Unfortunately the rooms near to me were occupied by a wedding party consisting of people who were incapable of closing doors without slamming them, talked at the top of their voices, and did not read the instructions, so were shouting through the paper thin walls to find out which of them could work out how to use it.
Breakfast was good.
The room was very small. After the first night our room wasn't cleaned, no fresh towels, no clean cups. The water was running continuously, nobody cared despite our complains! Very unfriendly: we had to pay for the room on arrival, usually you pay when you leave the hotel after 3 nights ......
It was very quiet and the staff were very helpful and provided us with maps etc especially as we were visitors to UK and had not visited the area before. We would certainly stay there again if and when we visit the UK again
This is not a complaint but we think there could be a better evening menu selection for people staying at the hotel for several nights and not just visiting for weddings etc.
Comfortable, clean, well appointed, warm. Free parking.
Menu OK, A bit limited perhaps. Not in walking distance of the town center
